We’re excited to announce our partnership with CAMH (Centre for Addiction & Mental Health in Toronto) for their COVID-19 Mental Health Resiliency & Coping Fund, which supports the growing mental health and wellness needs of patients, frontline health care workers and businesses. The fund is primarily focused on supporting health care workers’ mental health through access to therapy and virtual resources.
Since 1990, the AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area (ACNBA). Since 1990 they’ve been supporting vulnerable populations affected or infected by HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C through education, awareness, outreach strategies, and treatment. In 2020 the New Horizons for 2S-LGTBQ+ Older Adults Program began and is housed within ACNBA. This program aims to address the isolation and discrimination of Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (2S-LGBTQ+) seniors over 50 by developing and facilitating social programs, offering support services and advocacy, and engaging the public in educational strategies.
Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT) is a fully-accredited community health centre dedicated to the health and wellness of Toronto's Indigenous community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AHT continues working to ensure that First Nations, Métis, & Inuit people have access to the care and traditional healing services they need. Our donation will be used to provide PPE for the health care workers on the mobile healing unit.
Markhaven Home for Seniors has reported 13 deaths of residents, and is one of only two Toronto area long term care homes experiencing an outbreak that is not-for-profit. The Home Front’s donation will be used to secure PPE, to pay for additional staffing, to provide food for staff that is working over time or for residents, or to purchase an iPad to enable residents to speak with their families while they remain in isolation.
HomesFirst Shelter’s Willowdale Welcome Centre is a shelter for refugees in North York that is experiencing the largest outbreak of positive cases of any shelter in Toronto, with over 110 positive cases. The Home Front’s donation will be used to secure PPE, to pay for additional staffing, to provide food for staff that is working over time or for residents, or to purchase an iPad to enable residents to speak with their families while they remain in isolation.
The OHC's primary goal is to protect and improve our public health care system; working to honour and strengthen the principles of the Canada Health Act. They are led by a shared commitment to core values of equality, democracy, social inclusion and social justice; and by the five principles of the Act: universality; comprehensiveness; portability; accessibility and public administration. The OHC is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest activist coalition and network.
